While walking to the opening of a cenote, I passed through the living area of the family that owned the land. With a warm welcome, the family invited me onto their land. I ran across this beautiful child taking a bath in this large cooking pot. The amazing things and beautiful faces you see here are priceless. Imagine how simple life is for this happy child. – Sherry
Lake Bacalar in Q. Roo, MEXICO is also called the Lagoon of the seven colors With a length of some 50 miles from North to South it seems like a wide turquoise river flowing through the jungle. Bacalar´s turquoise waters are enhanced by the deep green tone of the mangroves and reed beds.

If you are looking for another reason to LOVE Mexico… a good one is the SIESTA!
Mexico takes its nap time very seriously. Many stores, shops, and offices close between the hours of 2 pm – 4 pm for the traditional siesta time. I am not sure if they all run home to jump in their hammock or not, but it is a brilliant plan if you ask me. If corporate America would follow suit, I am sure the productivity level would improve drastically. It worked for all of us in kindergarten, why not in adult-hood. Kudos to Mexico! Living in a country with the native language being different than your own can be a challenge and entertaining.
This charming beach front home is owned by a long time local in Mahahual.
Mahahual is an emerging coast town about 4 hours or so south of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Mahahual is part of an area called Costa Maya along the Mexican Caribbean.
This coast town was once used for an outpost for the Mexican Navy and a home to a few fishermen and palapas inhabited by locals. The cruise ship industry took an interest in this quiet coast and built a deep pier for their boats.
Since then, it has become the gateway to southern Quintana Roo’s little known Mayan ruins and beaches. (Quintana Roo is the Mexican state in which Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Mahahual and more reside in).
The little town has stepped up to the occasion and found ways to accommodate vacationers who make a stop here to enjoy Mahahual’s sandy white beach and inland adventures before they sail off to their next destination.
