There are many organizations in town and along the coast that are doing things for the people and communities here. I do a lot of work for the animals, Angel notion has a lot of avenues for human health. The bombaros / firemen do a lot for our public services and local children. I also know of environmental organizations in nearby towns, like the turtle project and more. If you want to get involved, maybe I can connect you with a group you would like to assist.
